Acronyms
“The trained CCCs will support their CDs to develop the CRD that shows alignment of the MLOs with the SLOs. The CDs will also develop a common assessment for the identified SLO of the course that measures student achievement of PO.”
- CCCs – Compressed Course Champions – Faculty trained in the process of Course Redesign at GTCC
- CDs – Course Designers – Faculty assigned to redesign specific courses
- CRD – Course Redesign Document – A key deliverable of the process of Course Redesign at GTCC
- ID – Instructional Design – The field of creating engaging and effective education or training
- POs – Program Outcomes – The goals of the program that all the courses in that program work toward
- SLOs – Student Learning Outcomes – The goals of the course
- MLOs – Module Learning Objectives – The goals of the module or unit – Also called instructional objectives, unit objectives, or weekly objectives
- OERs – Open Educational Resources – Openly licensed books, videos, test banks, simulations, etc that can be used for free
Other Key Terms
- Blueprint – Technical process to associate the Model DEV Shell with each live section of the course taught each semester
- Common Assessment – A graded assignment designed to show mastery that is the same or equivalent for all sections of a class
- Course Map – Plan of how learning materials, activities, and assignments align with module learning objectives (MLOs) to achieve student learning outcomes (SLOs)
- Curriculum Map – Plan of how each course student learning outcome (SLO) supports the program outcomes (POs)
- Model DEV Shell – Built in Canvas by the course designer to include all the key learning materials, activities, and assessments to meet the student learning outcomes (SLOs)
- Online & Hybrid (O&H) – 50% or greater online
- Traditional & Blended (T&B) – Less than 50% online
